ADMINISTRATOR MENTOR PROGRAM (AMP)

Administrator Mentoring Program (AMP) for New Special Education Directors

MO-CASE seeks to continuously increase and improve services to its members and supporters.  The MO-CASE Board especially understands the challenges of new special education administrators as they assume important leadership responsibilities within their school districts.  

AMP Registration Information

Step 1: Register at the link below to participate in the AMP program.

Step 2: Email gayle.willey@mo-case.org to express interest in the AMP program.

Step 3: MO-CASE will then pair the new special education administrator with a veteran mentor. NOTE: if the new special education administrator wishes to request a specific mentor, please include this request on the registration form.

AMP Guidelines:

  • This program is meant to support 1st and 2nd year Special Education Administrators/Directors.
  • The new Special Education Administrator is responsible for obtaining approval from the district's superintendent before the mentorship can begin.
  • Ten hours of contact per year is required between the mentor and mentee.
  • The mentor program is a 2-year requirement.
  • The 10-hour contact time must be completed by April 30th each year.
  • The New Special Education Administrator must log all contact hours with the mentor in support of certification renewal.
  • A mentor/mentee roundtable/breakfast session will be provided at the Annual Special Education Administrators Conference and the spring MO-CASE Symposium. These sessions will focus on timely issues and leadership and should be attended by both the mentee and mentor.
  • There is no cost to the mentee school district.

Mentor Criteria: 

  1. Served in a special education leadership role for at least 5 years
  2. Serve in a position within an LEA which has the responsibility of multiple facets of the special education program
  3. Agree to meet with the mentee by phone, virtually or face to face a minimum of ten hours per year
  4. Agree to encourage the mentee to attend local LASE meetings
  5. Member of MO-CASE and access other resources currently available throughout the state
