33rd Annual Special Education Administrators' Conference

The 33rd Annual Special Education Administrators' Conference was held on September 26-28, 2010.   Approximately 1000 conference attendees enjoyed a great keynote by Dr. Rick Lavoie and over 50 breakout sessions across the three days of the conference.  Over 400 have already completed the on-line evaluation and after summarizing the comments and ratings, the conference was a huge success.  Thank you to all who attended, all who volunteered, the presenters and the exhibitors.  The MO-CASE Board and Professional Development Committee strive to provide outstanding and beneficial professional development opportunities to our members and educators across Missouri and with the help of everyone, this goal from our Strategic Plan was accomplished.  The Board and Committee will utilize the evaluation feedback as they plan for future conferences so please take a few moments to complete the survey.

Conference attendees are saying:

"I have heard Rick Lavoie before. I wasn't expecting him to keep me so spell bound by what he had to say now as when I heard him 5+ years ago and originally on the F.A.T. City presentation."

"Fabulous to hear Rick Lavoie's vision and message. The learned helplesses pattern haunts us all as we work with students."

"WOW!!!! Rick Lavoie was entertaining, inspiring, and shared some great information. I became familiar with Rick Lavoie about fifteen years ago when I somehow ran across his F.A.T. City video. I have utilized his information and video with both my parents and staff since then."

"Nice selection of topics to choose from. Would have liked to seen repeats of more than one or two topics. I had a hard time making a choice. I felt I was missing out on some information I could have used as a new coordinator. I was very glad to have the flash drive with the powerpoints and handouts on it."

"Great presenter--understood special education
Caused reflection which for me means it was well worth the time."

"The fact that I LEARNED valuable information applicable for teaching & working with kids and not just about how to keep DESE happy, although that is extremely important & why I keep coming back each year."

"The keynote speaker was wonderful! He helped to keep items in perspective, but I enjoyed the individual breakout sessions the most. Being able to look at what I do on a daily basis and being able to dissect and make it better for students, staff, and family were very beneficial. The input of the lawyers was huge."

Handouts are now available online.  Some handouts that are large may take a little time to download.
