MO-CASE AWARDS AND RECOGNITION

Distinguished Service Award

For over twenty years MO-CASE has presented the Distinguished Service Award to honor individuals for their contribution to special education administration. This award is presented to someone who has made significant contributions to the field of special education. The honor is reserved for the few individuals who, because of their contributions, would be recognized by many in the field as having made outstanding contributions to the field of special education administration.

Recommended criteria are:

  • 20 years of service in special education administration or a related field
  • Outstanding contributions beyond those expected in an individual's job
  • Service in more than one area, e.g., research, teaching, publication, administration, community service
  • Statewide or possibly national contributions or recognition

One recipient may be identified annually. A plaque and/or gift will be given at the fall Special Education Administrator's Conference. If qualified, the recipient will be nominated for the CASE Harry M. Selznick International Award.

MO-CASE Recognition Award

The recognition award, in contrast to the Distinguished Service Award, would be presented to an individual who may have fewer years of service, may not have statewide recognition and may have service only in the area of special education administration or a related field.

Recommended criteria are:

  • Ten years service in special education administration or related field
  • Outstanding contributions to the field of special education administration

The Recognition Award will be conferred annually and possibly to more than one person in a year. A plaque and/or gift will be presented at the fall Special Education Administrator's Conference.

Outstanding New Special Education Administrator

The Outstanding New Special Education Administrator Award will be presented to a special education administrator who has five or less years in the field. This award will be presented to a person who probably does not have statewide recognition but would be recognized in their part of the state and may have service only in the field of special education administration.

Recommended criteria are:

  • Five years or less in special education administration
  • Missouri certification in the field of special education administration
  • Special contributions to the field of special education administration
  • Recognized in their part of the state as a leader in special education administration or for outstanding leadership accomplishments in their local district

A plaque will be presented at the fall Special Education Administrator's Conference.

MO-CASE will annually advertise in the Director or on its website for nominations from its supporter/membership base for the previously mentioned three awards. A complete narrative addressing the above criteria and clearly stating why the nominee deserves the award must accompany nominations from the supporter/membership base. The nomination must be accompanied by three letters of recommendation and a Professional Resume. The organization will also accept nominations from Area LASE groups and the MO-CASE board of directors.
